Józef Piłsudski University of Physical Education in Warsaw - AWF

https://youtu.be/ncsqx43KjlU

Campus of AWF Warsaw with its area of 58 627 ha is one of the most beautiful campuses in Poland and in Europe thanks to its unique location within a nature reserve. It has been entered into the register of monuments because of exceptional examples of Polish architecture of the interwar period. A courtyard surrounded by a complex of buildings with an open passage under a portal of the main building which lets the visitor see the forest in the background create unforgettable atmosphere.

The University has complete didactic and sports infrastructure at its premises. The area surrounded by beautiful recreational terrains allows spending free time in an active way.

In the proximity of the campus there is an underground station – Stare Bielany – that makes it possible to quickly get to the city centre. Thanks to this transport link students, staff and visitors may use and enjoy the rich cultural and educational offer of the capital city to the fullest.

Faculty of Rehabilitation

The Faculty of Rehabilitation of the Józef Piłsudski University of Physical Education in Warsaw was established as the first in Poland already in 1984.

The rise of the Faculty of Rehabilitation was a consequence of the development of specialization in rehabilitation at the University, and is connected with the initiative and activity of prof. Marian Weiss, at that time director of a hospital in Konstancin. The first graduates of movement therapy left the University in 1954. In this way, the history of physiotherapy at the University of Physical Education in Warsaw is already 70 years old.

The Faculty of Rehabilitation consists of field of study such as:

v Physiotherapy

v Occupational Therapy

v Nursing

Nowadays, the Faculty is one of the best academic centres for physiotherapists of the 5 years long-cycle master’s degree programme. Competition for the credit book is one of the highest in Poland (about 6 people / 1 place). The uniqueness of rehabilitation training is based primarily on the use of movement in the therapy process, as well as therapeutic recreation, adaptive physical activity and disability sport. By adding to the above the psychosocial aspects of rehabilitation, bioethics and sexual rehabilitation important for people with disability, we create a modern image of a graduate.

Staff of specialists and cooperation with leading hospital units and rehabilitation departments ensures high level of education. Faculty employees hold many prestigious and responsible roles in academic and didactic organizations. The Faculty organizes periodical, technical scientific conferences; among others international scientific conferences " International Conference Prof. Andrzej Seyfried Physiotherapy's Ideas ", „Theory and Practice of Adapted Physical Activity" and many more which are very popular among the practitioners.

ERASMUS+ international students and staff exchange program is very popular at our Faculty. Our students by visiting the universities of the European Union countries learn the latest updates of modern rehabilitation.

All of this makes our Faculty of Rehabilitation a unique place where knowledge and experience come together with passionate students and teachers eager to share their expertise.

The location of Warsaw guarantees convenient air, road, and train connections. You can choose between any of the world major airlines which maintain daily connections with Warsaw Chopin Airport (WAW) located only 10 km from the city centre and low-cost careers flying to Warsaw from many European airports (some of them to Modlin Airport (WMI) approx. 40 km from Warsaw) As alternative you may use international coach services or travel by train.

Public transport in Warsaw

The urban transportation system in Warsaw is well organized and quite efficient. The main means of transportation are underground (subway), bus and tramway. We recommend using Google Maps to check how to get to a specific place. Standard price of one ticket for any of the means – 3,40 PLN (20 minutes), 4,40 PLN (75 minutes), 15 PLN (24h), 36 PLN (72h).

Where to buy a ticket? Ticket machines are located in most vehicles, near bus stops and metro stations. Tickets purchased on the bus or tram are already validated. There are several applications that allow you to buy tickets, for example www.mobilet.pl. You can also buy tickets at kiosks and Passenger Service Points. Ticket validators are located inside the bus and train. When travelling by metro, you should validate the ticket at the entrance gate before entering the platform. Learn more about urban transportation fares at: www.ztm.waw.pl or www.wpt.waw.pl

Currency & Visas

The currency in use in Poland is the Polish Zloty (PLN). All major credit cards are accepted in most hotels, restaurants and shops as well as most of ATMs accept any international ATM cards (the withdrawal fee usually depends on the cardholder's bank policy and fees). To have in mind is the fact that Travelers' Checks and Personal Checks are not accepted. It is possible to use ATM just outside the premises of AWF Warszawa.

Poland as a member of the European Union follows common European visa policy. For information concerning entry requirements and residence in Poland, please contact a local Polish embassy or consulate in your country.
